Buy-to-Let Mortgage Arrears
Source: CML, in:specie⢠calculations
Most Recent Data: H1 2008
Last Updated: 26 August 2008
Notes on Figures:
(1) CML do not provide totals of actual arrears, just a percentage of the total mortgages outstanding. Therefore, the number of arrears has been calculated using these two numbers.
(2) CML quote the percentage of arrears as a percentage of the current number of mortgages. However, to suggest, as in the cases of quarterly figures, that a mortgage can be 3+ months in arrears when it was taken out less than 3 months ago seems ridiculous. It makes more sense, given how long is actually required for a mortgage to become 3+ months in arrears, to calculate the percentage based on the number of mortgages outstanding in the previous half-year and not the current one as CML does.
